About the song
Some of us may know a homeopathic version of that feeling: you come out of a dramatic, existential experience, like a survival after being lost for hours in the wilderness or ocean or after an involvement in a terrible car crash or event. You have just one wish, namely to get back to your old life, but this old life cannot be reinstated fully, despite the fact that all surround you, family and friends are here to support you and offer you back the old life. This is particularly true for all persons having wartime or catastrophic experiences, and who when returning to their safe and familiar home base, carry with them this unbearable and tormenting feeling that, despite of how much everybody attempts with all efforts to comfort you, the home will never be the same, not because home has changed, but because you have, as you carry with you all the unbearable and immense burden of your memories, trauma and experiences that keep haunting you, even – and sometimes even more so – when back home.

Einige von uns mögen so etwas schon in kleiner Dosis erlebt haben: Du hast soeben eine dramatische, existentielle Erfahrung gemacht, hast zum Beispiel gerade eine Naturkatastrophe durch- und überlebt, einen Verkehrsunfall mit- und überlebt. Du hast nur einen Wunsch: So schnell wie möglich wieder zurück in dein „unversehrtes Leben“ zurückzukehren. Aber dieses „alte“ Leben lässt sich nicht mehr wiederherstellen. Alle lieben “Seelen”, die Familie und Freunde um dich herum geben alles, um dir zu helfen, dass du wieder “der Alte” wirst. Diese Situation findet man oft bei Kriegsheimkehrern oder Überlebenden von Katastrophen, wenn sie in ihre sichere und gewohnte Umgebung heimkehren. Aber noch in sich dieses unerträgliche Gefühl und den grossen Schmerz tragen. In Flashbacks kommt immer wieder diese quälende Erinnerung, dieser Traumata, welche dich heimsuchen; besonders stark, wenn Du wieder an dein sicheres Zuhause zurückgekehrt bist.
